St. Martin

St. Martin sailing

St. Martin, part of the Leeward Islands, is one of the most popular sailing areas in the Caribbean and the main rival of the British Virgin Islands. The island of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin located about 90 Nm SE of the BVI and some 150 Nm N from Guadeloupe is the smallest territory in the world separated in two different countries and nations. Half the island is French, Marigot is the capital and the other half with its capital Philipsburg, belongs to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, although Dutch Sint Maarten is an independent country within the Dutch Kingdom).

Sailing in St. Martin island itself and the nearby islands of Anguilla and St. Barts (St. Barthelemy) can very well include nearly everything. Easy island hopping, blue-water passages, swimming in shimmering waters, diving to sunken ships and snorkeling next to tropical fish in unspoiled reefs, dining and fine-dining, shopping, casual beach bars and legendary or less known beaches, French and Dutch bi-culture, Caribbean and European cuisines 2-in-1, even casinos and vibrant nightlife.

St. Martin is a destination that combines classic Caribbean holidays with a blend of sophisticated, cosmopolitan European style, often with a Mediterranean relaxed and easy-going rhythms.
